Toronto Maple Leafs at the Trade Deadline
The trade deadline is less then a month away, Leaf fans circle February 28, 2011 on your calendars but if Leafs GM Brian Burke has his way he wont be waiting until then to shake this club up, the Buds are no better this year then they were last and a couple of one way tickets out of town for some players if not just about all is something that many of us would not mind at all.
I want to start with the Leafs that Brian Burke should not think of trading unless there is some offer out there that is just too good to refuse (cough), the Buds that should remain with the club after the deadline are, Phil Kessel, Nikolai Kulemin, Mikhail Grabovski, Luke Schenn, Jonas Gustavsson, Colby Armstrong, James Reimer, Tim Brent, Colton Orr and Carl Gunnarsson all others can be shipped out FedEx.
Then we have the Leafs that we would love to see gone but who in their right mind would pick them up with the contracts that they carry or based on their awful play this season, these players are Mike Komisarek who would look great teamed with Jeff Finger on the Marlies and Brett Lebda.
Then we have the Leafs that should be traded but Burke would not consider it for some of them unless once again he has an offer that knocks his socks off and these players are Captain Pylon A.K.A. Dion Phaneuf, Tyler Bozak, Nazem Kadri and Mike Brown.
Then last but not least are players Burke is all ears for these players include Clarke MacArthur, Tomas Kaberle, J.S. Giguere, Francois Beauchemin, Kris Versteeg and Fredrik Sjostrom, from this group the likely players gone are MacArthur, Versteeg and Sjostrom as Kaberle still has his NTC while Giguere along with Beauchemin have high salaries.
The trade deadline is just around the corner, who do you want to see go and who do you want to see stay Leafs Nation?

I really have to think one of the big name dmen are out. Kaberle, Beauchemin, or Komisarek. The forwards need help and the ones worth trading won;t bring in enough to make a difference without degrading some other part of the team to make the trade worthwhile.
