The 2011 NHL draft has come and gone and Brian Burke has added nine lucky youngsters when it was all said and done. The Leafs made a minor move by trading their 30th overall and 39th overall picks to Anaheim to move up to the 22nd overall spot. We take a look at who the Bud drafted.
Tyler Biggs (Forward) 22nd Overall Pick
USA (Under 18)
GP: 48 G 17 A 11 PTS 28 PIM 112
- Prototypical power forward who embodies truculence. He has decent hands and can drive to the net while delivering big hits
Mississauga St. Michael's (OHL)
GP: 64 G 4 A 29 PTS 33 PIM 50
- A smart player who is rarely caught out of position in his own end, he guards the puck well and makes passes well in all three zones
Sudbury (OHL)
GP: 64 G 13 A 17 PTS 30 PIM 37
- The kids game is still blossoming as he scored 11 of his 13 goals in his final 34 games and was a big part of Sudbury's upset first round win over Ottawa
Mora (Sweden)
GP: 37 G 2 A 6 PTS 8 PIM 26
- He has a good shot and delivers devasting open ice hits, is sound in his own end
Wayzata (MN High School)
GP: 25 G 15 A 39 PTS 54 PIM 26
- Makes up for lack of size with speed and acceleration, finds the open ice well and is an excellent playmaker
Sault Ste Marie (OHL)
GP: 65 G 13 A 21 PTS 34 PIM 85
- Big forward who loves to drop the gloves, he can mix it up and goes into the corners
Brown (ECAC)
GP: 30 G 6 A 11 PTS 17 PIM 48
- Uses his strength to slow down opposing forwards and can play on the powerplay
Guelph (OHL)
GP: 33 GAA 2.90 SVP .907
- He is a big bodied goalie with good lateral movement and rebound control
Edina (MN High School)
GP: 22 G 4 A 17 PTS 21 PIM 20
- A defensive defensemen who has a bit more growing to do
